Joe BecknerMachinist Mate Third ClassJoe, a machinist mate, joined the Navy in 1944 and served until 1946. The Aaron Ward was his only ship. He "spent most of his life before and after the war working for a paper mill in Chambersburg, PA. He retired as general superintendent of the mill. Seeking a warmer climate, the Beckners moved to Mission Viejo in 1988." Joe died 23 January 1998 at the age of 78.-- Lloyd Boles |
