Allan, an electrician, was lacerated by shrapnel and severely burned during the 3 May 1945 attack.  He was a longtime commander of the Hollywood Post of the VFW and had many friends, one of who was the famous movie director, John Ford.  Allan died in 2000 and was buried with his Purple Heart Medal and a copy of Arnold S. Lott's "Brave Ship, Brave Men."

He was married to June for 62 years.
