Lloyd took over the "duty" of The Skipper's Letter.

A journalist, a poet, a historian, he has contributed heavily in time and effort to developing these pages.  Everyone connected with the AARON WARD is grateful to him and his beloved  Mary for their tireless efforts.
He and Mary have been married for 50 years.
Lloyd was a gunner on Mount 52.

After the AARON WARD was decommissioned, but still tied up at Brooklyn Navy Yard, they brought in the brand new super carrier, the FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT, and tied her up just forward of the hulk of the AARON WARD. I was drawn to an open house aboard the FDR and when I left, I found it necessary to once-again board what was left of our old tin can. I found my way to the fo’c’sle, and while there, who would join me but Gunner’s Mate Boles in a purely chance meeting. I don’t believe I saw Boles again until the late 70’s or early 80’s after moving to the San Francisco area. We have remained in touch ever since. –W.Fowers
